Taroudant - According to the Xinhua News Agency, the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Salman Khurshid is expected in Morocco on Wednesday for an official visit that is likely to give fresh boost to the economic relations between Morocco and India.
As part of an official tour to the North African region, the Indian FM “will be spending three days in Morocco from January 30 to February 1,” India news agency (IANS) said.
The visit aims to review ways to revitalize the Moroccan-Indian partnership and promote coordination at the diplomatic level on bilateral, regional and international issues.
During this three days visit, “Khurshid will meet with his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar and other Moroccan dignitaries, including King Mohammed VI,” the same source added.
New Delhi, 4th customer of Moroccan phosphate in 2012, is looking for more important sources of phosphates and energy.
India’s fertilizer industry and agriculture sector uses a lot of phosphate imported from Morocco.
According to official statistics in 2012, economic exchanges between India and Morocco have increased significantly to reach two billion dollars.
An industry survey issued by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) shows that Indian economy may grow by 4.8 per cent in 2013.
