Casablanca - Last Friday, January 31, was a black Friday for Marrakech—four people were found dead in different locations in the city, two of whom had committed suicide.
According to daily Moroccan newspaper Al Massae, four residents of Marrakech were killed, two of whom committed suicide.
The first victim was a doctor who was found dead in his Villa in the Red City. Familial problems are believed to be the reason behind his suicide. His body will be autopsied to verify the cause of his death.
A 51-year-old business man also committed suicide in Marrakech on the same day. The man was allegedly found dead in his apartment after his neighbors, who had smelt an unbearable odor coming from his apartment, called the police.
On the same day, a man named Aziz was found dead in a parking. Aziz had been stabbed to death, according to local police. The police suspect one of his female friends, who had frequently paid him visits where he lives.
The fourth person was found dead near Ouest Isly in Marrakech. According to Al Massae, the local police believe it was a murder.
Many residents of the Southern Pearl were shocked by the news they read on the four victims who died on the same day, especially in a city as lively and festive as Marrakech.
The two murders cast doubt on security in Marrakech, the country’s number one destination for international tourists and celebrities.
