Paris- French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius admitted on Sunday that "there were shortcomings in the way things were arranged," regarding the complaint filed by a French Association against the Director General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) for alleged "complicity in torture" in Morocco.
"There were shortcomings in the way things have been ordered. We should have contacted the concerned persons. Things could have been done more diplomatically," said the head of French diplomacy who appeared on "Le Grand Rendez-vous", aired on Europe1/I-télé/Le Monde.
"I hope all this will subside. We're working on that," he said, stressing that "France and Morocco are friends and will remain so."
Referring to the comments attributed to the ambassador of France to the UN, Fabius said they are "not applicable" and are challenged by the diplomat himself who happens to have witnesses.
"We need to find solutions to avoid such incidents, we are working on that with my Moroccan colleague," he said.
