The stray dog was taken to a veterinary clinic run by Dr. Elkohen Kaoutar where it died on Friday, June 12th at 15:30, despite receiving intensive medical care.
The story of Ray left several people traumatized and many others calling on authorities to launch an investigation to find perpetrators.
The Facebook page "Justice for Ray" has amassed 27,000 likes as of this writing, mainly from people calling for a reform to animal abuse punishment in Morocco.
"Ray clung to life until the day before the march because he wanted to be sure that others like him do not suffer these atrocities," reads a post on the Facebook page.
According to the page, a march will be held in Casablanca on Sunday "to say that a human loses his humanity once he accepts that what happened to Ray goes unpunished."
