Morocco lags behind in sexual and reproductive health

Rabat - The Moroccan Family Planning Association (MFPA) estimates that progress made by Morocco in the field of sexual and reproductive health is not sufficient, according to MAP.

The MFPA warned of gaps in maternal mortality, access to sexual and reproductive health and the fight against acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

"Despite the progress achieved in the plan of action of the International Conference on Population and Development ICPD+20, held in Cairo last June, the achievements of Morocco in sexual and reproductive health remain inadequate," said the Secretary General of the AMPF, Latifa Jamai on Friday according to the same source.

Speaking on the promotion of sexual and reproductive health in the International Conference on Population and Development ICPD +20, Latifa Jamai presented the main recommendations resulting from the world conference, which lay great emphasis on human rights in the field of ??sexual and reproductive health, the need to ensure access to all health services, information and quality education in the field, as well as the fight against violence against women.

She emphasized that this meeting was held with the aim to discuss the evaluation of the International Conference ICPD +20 and create a commission that will develop a guide on sexual and reproductive health.

The review by the International Conference for a plan of action beyond 2014 aims to assess the implementation of recommendations, highlight the constraints and opportunities therein and launch a dialog between the different sectors and the involved parties at the national level.

The plan of action of the ICPD +20 has set as missions the fight against poverty and inequality, improving the quality of life, the promotion of human rights and gender equality and international solidarity, to ensure that the individual is at the center of the process of sustainable development, and to ensure access to health care services and the rights of migrants and refugees.
